An Enchanted Evening

During this past weekend our wonderful nanny, Kaity, got married. Kaity has been working with us regularly for the past 1.5 years, so she's more than our nanny - she is a very dear friend. We are so happy for Kaity and Daniel, and were blessed to share in their special day. And...as an extra special honor, they asked Owen to be an ring bearer in the wedding!

Kaity and Owen at rehearsal

Mama and her little man - all dressed up for his big role in the wedding! He looked SO handsome in his little suit, and we styled his hair for the first time too. He seemed to realize he was dressed extra fancy - he smiled, beamed, and carried himself proudly.

Owen and the flower girl - Savannah. Savannah is 4, and her little brother Brayden was the second ring bearer. Savannah and Brayden are the niece/nephew of the groom.

Owen struck this pose all on his own. I love it! Such a sweet boy! And so handsome )

Cracks me up...looks like he's off to an important meeting. And what's in his "briefcase"? His toys/cars, of course!

Kaity gave the kids a little gift...more cars! What could be better?! :)

Owen picked Kaity a little flower, which is what she's holding in her fingers

The kids getting "nourishment" (if chips qualify) before the big moment.

Brayden is also 2, and in fact - shares the very same birthday with Owen. The boys are only 20 minutes apart!

This was a moment for me when I recognized (again) that Owen is not just our little boy, but he's his own little person. He saw kids sitting on the grass, and ran over on his own to join them. He plopped down on his tummy, joining in on their conversation. Our social boy!

The big moment! Would he do it? It's hard to make a 2 year old do anything, and we held our breath as he and Savannah headed out for the aisle wondering if he'd turn back in intimidation or protest.

He walked so nicely down the aisle! We were beaming with pride! Way to go, Owen!
(Brayden had already gone down the aisle holding his mom's hand. Being the groom's sister, she was a bridesmaid in the wedding)

It was a beautiful ceremony! The day/evening was hot (90 degrees!) but everyone was holding up well.

Owen stood up with the guys for the entire ceremony! See him studying his little car (his gift fro Kaity) with great intensity. Also, I think the sun was in his eyes so he really couldn't see the audience. Brayden ended up sitting with his dad, and we expected Owen to do the same. But he hung in there, and we were SO proud of him!

The reception took place at the same venue as the Ceremony. It was a private residence. The wedding took place on a lovely piece of lawn and the reception took place around the pool. (the castle looking structure is the pool house). Ava was home with Grandma, and being such a special occasion we allowed Owen to stay up way past his bedtime. We all celebrated and danced until well after dark. It was warm summer night and truly a magical event. Congratulations Kaity & Daniel! We love you guys and wish you the very best in your life together!

OH my gosh! Such a handsome little man. Very brave bride to take on two two year olds! Anything could have happened!!! Glad he had "his day" and lucky grandma to have little girl to herself.
